From January 21-24 January more than 3,000 professionals, leading industry and political figures including Donald Trump, will descend on the Swiss Alps ski resort of Davos to participate in the annual World Economic Forum.

Billed as the ‘Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World’ forum, this year a broad range of critical topics of global significance will be debated.

WEF 2020

Top of the agenda is the spiralling disaster that is climate change. Whilst tragic bushfires rage throughout S.E. Australia and mounting freak weather events occur across the globe, world leaders will discuss viable environmental plans, including how technology can be leveraged to drive global collaboration and impact.

Many themes from previous WEF meetings, such as US-China trade, will inevitably factor into this year’s agenda. Amata’s CIO Lisa Ng’s comments in the GMF last year about the economic superpowers being “unpredictable” are evidenced by over a year of difficult trade talks between China and the US.

The award-winning Reuters news team will be on the ground, providing you with all the news and developments as they happen, as well as views from the world’s top decision makers.

GMF members can network and participate in ‘Live Chats’ with WEF attendees, as they share their thoughts and insights on the day’s agenda. We have some returning guests this year, including Executive Director at the International Energy Agency, Fatih Baril, who predicted a problem that the oil markets would face, this being a “slowing down of the global economic growth on the demand side in general, but China in particular”. Tune in for predictions for 2020.
